The Lord Of Rings: The Two Towers. Shot Types

Extreme long shot

An extreme long shot (establishing shot) sets the scene to give a sense of place.
Wide Shot

A wide shot lets the audience know what the character is doing at first and gives them a sense of what is happening. It also shows the characters outfit and the props around them and how they relate.
Medium Shot

The medium shot focuses on roughly half of the characters body showing expression but with body language and also has background in to still show a sense of scene.
Medium Close Up

A medium close up show the character slightly closer up drawing more focus to them, this is usually used as it zooms from a medium shot to a close up.

Extreme close up

An extreme close up gets mostly face in the shot and shows lots of detail in expression. Eg. Eyes and wrinkles.
Two-Shot

A two shot has two characters in it. Usually reacting to something or talking to each other.
Over the shoulder shot

An over the shoulder shot is a shot of what the character is looking at but looking over the shoulder so you know who it is.

Flat Plans

The website homepage and poster will fit the colour scheme of black, grey, white and light blue. It will be aimed at male teenagers and adults who like action and adventure movies, i have not yet decided a title for the film, but it will be short and punchy so it would be memorable to the audience. I believe white text will look best for the title, it will stand out from the dark background and i will also add a light blue outline to make it stand out even more. I will use effects on photoshop to make the images stand out.

Proposal

For my A2 media project I am going to produce a promotion package for a new film which includes a teaser trailer, together with a website homepage and a poster for the film. I am undecided on the genre of the film i will be doing the promotion package, i have whittled it down to either an action/ horror, or a comedy. I will try using my surrounding are for the trailer and experiment with lighting and sound to give the best effect, I want to make the trailer tense by using dark scenes with roaring bass for every transition/ jump cut, I have seen this in blockbuster films and i think it looks excellent, and it always grabs my attention. I have looked at different teaser trailers such as The Matrix Reloaded, Skyline and The Dark Knight Rises. I like these trailers because of the seriousness and the tense atmosphere, but i also like trailers such as The Fast and the Furious where it uses music to create the tension, i think i will experiment with music in my studies.
For the website home page I will create something similar to The Avengers, or The Hunger Games, it is a flash based website, but it has everything to promote the film, social network connections, movie trailers, images from the movie, characters, videos, behind the scenes, downloads, "specials". This makes the audience feel like they're seeing things others can't, building hype for the film, also the links to social networks, spreads the name of the film and makes people interested.
For the poster I plan on having a main character and keeping it simple but effective, this works really well to grab people attention, I could even stylise the character to make it like a piece of art work, even though it is not a film, GTA has done this with their characters, and it has built up a lot of hype around the game, I would think that it would relate to a film.
