The Lord Of Rings: The Two Towers. Shot Types



Extreme long shot

An extreme long shot (establishing shot) sets the scene to give a sense of place.
Wide Shot

A wide shot lets the audience know what the character is doing at first and gives them a sense of what is happening. It also shows the characters outfit and the props around them and how they relate.
Medium Shot

The medium shot focuses on roughly half of the characters body showing expression but with body language and also has background in to still show a sense of scene.
Medium Close Up

A medium close up show the character slightly closer up drawing more focus to them, this is usually used as it zooms from a medium shot to a close up.

Close Up

Close up shots shows the characters expressions in a more detailed manner.
Extreme close up

An extreme close up gets mostly face in the shot and shows lots of detail in expression. Eg. Eyes and wrinkles.
Two-Shot

A two shot has two characters in it. Usually reacting to something or talking to each other.
Over the shoulder shot

An over the shoulder shot is a shot of what the character is looking at but looking over the shoulder so you know who it is.
