For my A2 media project I am going to produce a promotion package for a new film which includes a teaser trailer, together with a website homepage and a poster for the film. I am undecided on the genre of the film i will be doing the promotion package, i have whittled it down to either an action/ horror, or a comedy. I will try using my surrounding are for the trailer and experiment with lighting and sound to give the best effect, I want to make the trailer tense by using dark scenes with roaring bass for every transition/ jump cut, I have seen this in blockbuster films and i think it looks excellent, and it always grabs my attention. I have looked at different teaser trailers such as The Matrix Reloaded, Skyline and The Dark Knight Rises. I like these trailers because of the seriousness and the tense atmosphere, but i also like trailers such as The Fast and the Furious where it uses music to create the tension, i think i will experiment with music in my studies.
For the website home page I will create something similar to The Avengers, or The Hunger Games, it is a flash based website, but it has everything to promote the film, social network connections, movie trailers, images from the movie, characters, videos, behind the scenes, downloads, "specials". This makes the audience feel like they're seeing things others can't, building hype for the film, also the links to social networks, spreads the name of the film and makes people interested.
For the poster I plan on having a main character and keeping it simple but effective, this works really well to grab people attention, I could even stylise the character to make it like a piece of art work, even though it is not a film, GTA has done this with their characters, and it has built up a lot of hype around the game, I would think that it would relate to a film.
